Just a plush couch- filled room with gilt-framed photos and other elements that make it look like, as the name suggests, an apartment. The downstairs space would have been the wine cellar, but was more likely a refrigerated room for one of the meat- packing companies in the area. It is a weirdly simple room in any case, reduced to a few elements: backlit faux-wood paneling that covers three walls, long counter running the length of the space, and the long bar. Whatever the intent of the design, it serves to provide maximum holding capacity for the socio-economically diverse crowd, who seem to have a hard time figuring out where to stand. DJs every night keep them circulating.
